How long before these bags start to decompose while in use in the kitchen?

They start decomposing within a couple of days. By the 3rd day they are useless, what a mess! Better to throw scraps directly into the container, then transfer them to the bag just to get them out of the house--and to conform to municipal pick-up requirements--then rinse your container.

Like a lot of people, I’m trying to cut down on single use plastics. I purchased these bags for kitty waste & litter and they are perfect. I have a small trash can with lid right next to the little box. I placed one of these bags in as a liner just in case and another to hold waste. After a week, everything held up perfectly. I was a bit concerned about how much it would hold since the bottom of the bag is cinched, for lack of a better word. But I really couldn’t be happier. No smells, no rips and it holds a lot.

Some reviewers said they had bags with rips so to avoid that, I made sure I was very careful when I took new ones out of the box. I am so pleased with these that I plan on buying some for my larger 13 gallon waste basket.

It's an ok product. I find that I sometimes have to double bag in order to have a sturdier bag. I keep my compost for a week, and by then my compostable bag starts to disintegrate. At least I know the bags are truly biodegradable.

These work great for what they're supposed to do. I put them in my kitchen compost bin until they're full and then have my son run it outside to the big pile. They are in the kitchen bin for days, sometimes almost a week and I've never had a problem with tearing or ripping. They hold up surprising well considering some of the other reviews. The only thing is that when they're in the bin too long, sometimes liquid leaks through a little. My bin is stainless steel so I just give it a rinse and it's not a problem for me. Also, I haven't had any issue with smell so that's great because if there was even a little smell my husband would be the first to complain! I compost for my lawn/trees, the pile is far from the house and these bags are great for my purpose.
